SOAPS' SEXIEST MEN
Who do you think is the sexiest man on daytime?
Simon, As the World Turns
How do you feel about shirtless scenes?
"They have to justify very strongly to me why it's happening before I take my shirt off. If it adds to the scene, then I agree with it, but if it's purely for beekcake appeal, I'm not interested. One of the sexiest scenes ever in film is in "The Piano", where Harvey Keitel is under the piano, finds a hole in [Holly Hunter's] stocking and just touches her skin. There was no nudity in that, and it was sexy. It was high-powered sexual tension, which is better than shirts-off thrusting."
What is your best quality?
"My sense of humor. People are obviously going to judge you by your looks, but they forget that pretty quickly. To me, it's all about sense of humor and not taking myself seriously. That's what I find sexy in someone."
Is your accent an asset in meeting women?
"I think the women in New York are predatory, anyway. If they like the way you look, they'll come up and want a piece of you. When they hear the accent, I guess that's more of an appeal, but it's not like I use it to my advantage. I'm not the evil genius who goes out every night, rubbing my whiskers and saying, "I'm going to use my accent to create some diabolical sexual threesome."
Who was your first crush?,
"My buxom French teacher in grade five. I think if the feelings were mutual, she would be in prison right now. I continued to take French until year 12, so she had some kind of effect."
How do you feel about being named the sexiest man on ATWT?
"It's a bigger thrill than the Emmy nomination [laughs]. That was my goal all along. My work is done."
It's a title that Michael Park (Jack) once held, as well.
"Yeah, I'll take Michael out for a beer, and we'll have a sexy conversation."
